    The Birman is known as the Sacred Cat of Burma. The Vanderbilts are believed to have been given two Birmans by a Burmese temple servant, which were then bred to produce Birman Cats in the West. Birmans were sacred priestly cats of the Khmer People of ancient Thailand.
